Band Reviews
Need an antidote to depressing, angst laden music by pretty people with too much money to honestly have experienced some of the things they whinge about. Ever heard the term “Beer Rock”. Well that’s what you get when you listen to Old School Enemy.
“ …a very wise man once wrote, this band is like riding a motorbike. You stamp down on the kick start and it fires up for a moment before spluttering dead. So you try it again, and again until eventually you take a deep breath, stop messing about and give it a ball breaking kick. The bike explodes into life, and the next thing you know, you’re speeding along with the wind in your hair, tears streaming from your eyes, and all you can think is “Will this sodding thing ever stop?”
Well that’s Old School Enemy for you!”
The above quote shamelessly nicked from their website - http://www.oldschoolenemy.co.uk/. They’ve got 3 demo tracks for you to appreciate and all three rock along merrily, and capture the essence of their live set, albeit in a slightly more restrained manner.
Disney Bitches - Blasting anthem denigrating those pillars of kids entertainment. Are they really as sugary sweet and innocent as they look - Hell No! Ever wondered what they get up to, well OSE have this song happily takes the subject (tongue in cheek) and balls it out with foot stomping gusto,
“Who says Disney don’t have the best Rides!”
Go Go Larusso - Break neck pace, punk rock attitude and the energy of a seven year old on Ritolin after drinking 10 litres of Coke. If the Karate Kid had this as his walk out song he wouldn’t have need the crane stance thingy.
Hookers & Crack - My personal fave, melodic with some great bass runs and the lyric “she’s flicking her bean now” who couldn’t love it.
You can download these tracks for free from their Reverbnation page for free (http://www.reverbnation.com/ose)
Catch them soon at Battle of the Chebs 18th June and at the Coniston, Idle 28th July
