Do you wear a uniform?

Ok to put it simply we all wear a uniform that identifies us
in some way. Whether it is the dour businessman commuting to work on the train
in dark suit, tie and reading a broadsheet to the young teen with saggy jeans,
baseball cap and piercings, we all wear an expression of our personalities to
advertise to others our allegiance to some idea of style (or cool).
But is this really an expression of our personalities or
rather an idea of who we want to be? For instance if we refer back to the young
teen in the example above does their appearance accurately represent the person
they are or is it a mask to allow them fit into a template of cool that they
and their friends aspire to. If that teen were to be wearing dark clothing,
punk hair, multiple piercings and various tattoos are they anymore expressing
their personality through their clothing or rather just identifying themselves
with an idea of who they want to be.

So if the way people interact with us is shaped by the
uniform we wear then how much of our personality is defined by that uniform. Is
it a case of we choose the outward expression of ourselves through our
appearance or does our appearance shape our inner thoughts and expressions. If
the businessman were to work solely with a group of teens as described above
would they remain the same person or would their appearance change - and by
appearance I mean their dress, hair, gait, expressions and mode of speech. Would
the businessman still be the same person or be moulded by the uniform?
So now we have an idea of uniform let me ask the question “which
one do you wear and why”.
